This was my very first video which I shot in August of 2014. It was made with the video camera on my Android phone and was taken straight through with no editing. I did have to do 2 or 3 retakes to re-do a couple of parts I wasn’t happy with. But overall, for what it was, I thought it was a good video.
I made the video because I had been selling this radio on my website at Grapevine Amateur Radio since late 2013, and many of the calls I received were asking the same questions about programming. I decided to make this video and answer the most comment questions. The response to the video were very positive, so I decided I wanted to make more videos about more radios, but I wasn’t sure how exactly to make that happen. It took a few months, but by May of 2015 I had a plan in place and started making some more videos. They were rough at first, but I was soon able to improve the quality with better cameras, lighting and microphones.
So give this video a look and see how it all started.
been told my th9800 over drives if I talk to close to the mic been told the mic element is a 1000 ohm and the circuit is set up for 2000 ohm any fix for this
Yes, the TH-9800 has a very hot mic.
I just bought this radio and am waiting for it to arrive. I am using it for both HAM and LMR. On some of my channels I need to program, I have an RX code…and on some there is a TX code. I know to set the decode type to CTCSS Encode for the RX side, but what do I set for the TX side?…CTCSS Codec? What is the difference? Some of my channels have DCS so I set it to DCS Codec, but again…sometimes it’s TX only. How do I set the TX tone? Also, what is the DCS polarity? Sorry for all the questions…but I’m a newbie…still waiting for my call sign from the FCC 🙂
Watched your video on programming the TH-9800 many times. How do you delete a frequency from memory. I know how to give a frequency a memory number, but do not know how to delete one.
Thank you,

How do you set up and save a cross-band frequency on the TYT TH-9800 radio.
I need this same information, anyone have an answer?
Thanks
