TYT MD-2017 Dual Band DMR Handheld Transceiver
Well……that only took about 4 years! I started into DMR in 2013, but we’ve had repeaters in Texas since 2012 – and this is the first dual band DMR radio I’ve ever seen. So far, I like it.
The TYT MD-2017 has some minor annoyances, like most Chinese radios do, but they aren’t that big of a deal. The radio does exactly what it is supposed to do – it transmits and receives on VHF and UHF for for DMR and analog.
The programming cable is different, and the software is different, so the codeplugs are also different – different from the earlier TYT DMR HTs. But they are similar enough where I think we will see the MD380Tools gurus with a new hack for this radio very soon. I sure hope so.

There is NO WAY to import UHF channels and then VHF channels without wiping out the other band !! I have tried over and over to program a TYT 2017 dual band radio by importing the channels and it does not work without deleting the other band…Does anyone know it there is a way to do this except manually putting one channel at a time with the computer ? If there is not a way in the software to program this radio by importing UHF and VHF channels without wiping out the other band then this radio is worthless as I see it at this time !!
How do you download the new software for the tyt md-2017? I have the cps program downloaded and want to download the 10,000 contact software. When I click download contacts it says software error.

Hi I am in need for info on how to get radio to display info to and from person I am talking to. I programmed radio DMR fields and can talk to radio operators but on each radio my end and person I am talking. Both radio see DMR id and group number at top but also name is unavailable in center . Can not see call or name of group. How do I set program to display the name being herd and display my info to other person. I did put all info in program that I could see. ??? Can you help where I went wrong.
