This will be the first in a series of videos that I am calling ‘The Hamfest Circuit’ – I am planning to video and document every Hamfest that I attend over the next 12 months around the North Texas and ARRL West Gulf area. The Joplin Hamfest is the first edition in this series, and within a week of posting it, I have already received some very good responses about it.
I’ve had 2 or 3 clubs contact me about coming to their events and doing a similar video, which I would be happy to do. If your club or group sponsors a Hamfest in Texas or the surrounding areas, please contact me at kc5hwb@grapevinehamradio.com and let me know the details. As long as I am not booked that weekend, I would be happy to video your Hamfest.
The Joplin Hamfest pulls people from several States away. This was my first time to attend this Hamfest, and it was well worth the trip. To date, this Hamfest was the farthest I have traveled, but by this time next year, I won’t be able to make that claim any longer. But Joplin is already on the schedule for 2016, so expect to see a video next year also.
